State Theater New Jersey flourishes as the centerpiece and exclusive premiere venue for the arts community of New Brunswick. As a member of the Board of Directors for the theater which serves as the state’s second largest not-for-profit presenting hall, Sam Boraie is proud to sponsor upcoming events at State Theater New Jersey this year.
With performances offered through its free public workshop series, Tony award-winning productions and some of the best performers and entertainers that are known worldwide, Sam’s sponsorship of these upcoming events contributes commensurately to New Jersey’s $45 million performing arts tourism industry.

Pride Night at The State!
On May 5 at 6:30 PM, enjoy a pre-show party with hors d’oeuvres before the performance of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning masterpiece RENT. Guests will join the Pride Night Cast Party with food while getting a chance to mingle and meet the cast members. After the party, you will see a full performance of RENT starting at 8 PM. In case you miss the party on May 5, you can visit the theater for two more performances which will be held on May 6 at 2 PM and 8 PM.
In time-honored form, the world’s best loved musical Annie, directed by Martin Chernin and choreographed by Liza Gennaro, is a brand-new incarnation of the original which should not be missed on May 7. This Tony award-winning Broadway musical features unforgettable songs such as “It’s the Hard Knock Life”, “I Don’t Need Anything But You”, “Easy Street”, and the eternal anthem of optimism “Tomorrow”. Glenis Redmond Poetry Reading
State Theater New Jersey also inspires local artists to achieve greatness and one of the ways this is done is through community poetry readings. Hosted on May 12 at 7 PM by State Theater New Jersey artist-in-residence Glenis Redmond, this free event celebrates the community through the universal language of poetry.
This event will include more than 500 adults and children from all over the state of New Jersey who she inspired through her writing workshops. During her eight-week residency, she has reached out to more than 2000 people in more than 30 sites throughout the state.
Demetri Martin – Let’s Get Awkward Tour
On May 12 at 8 PM, get ready to laugh with the unconventional standup comedian Demetri Martin. As a regular performer on the daily show with Jon Stewart and a former writer for late night with Conan O’Brien, this comedian is known for his famous one-liners and drawings on a large pad. You can expect some hilarious jokes along with complementing music using multiple instruments.
