About Robert Ivy
Robert Ivy works with the American Institute of Architects where he serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English which he acquired from Sewanee: The University of the South. He also has a Masters of Architecture from Tulane University. He has had a successful career in the architectural field owing to his Masters in Architecture.
Before his position in the American Institute of Architects, Mr. Ivy held several other positions. Robert Ivy has been an Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Record since 1996. This journal is becoming popular among readers and today; it is considered the most read architectural journal. He has also worked with McGraw-Hill Construction Media where he was the Vice President and Editorial Director. He was named the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of American Institute of Architects in 2011. He succeeded Christine McEntee who resigned and moved on to another position. She is now the Executive Director of the American Geophysical Union. Robert Ivy has made a great contribution in the Architectural sector, and this has earned him recognition in this field. As a result, he has been a recipient of several well-earned awards.
His success with Architectural Record has led to several awards for the journal including 26 Jesse H.Neal Awards, the American Society of Magazine Editors National Magazine Award for General Excellence and a few other honors which are related to this publication.
Apart from the wards received through the Architectural Record, he has also received other awards as a result of his other Architectural contribution. One of such awards is the Crain Award which he received in 2009. This award is considered the highest honor in the American Business Media. When he was working for the McGraw-Hill, Robert Ivy received an award for Management Excellence.
Owing to the many awards Mr. Ivy has received, we can safely conclude that he is a man with a knack for excellence. In 2010, he was named as the ‘Master Architect’ by the Alpha Rho Chi. Receiving this honor was a big deal for Robert Ivy because it was a unanimous decision by his fellow architects.
Robert Ivy continuous to publish architectural work in the Architectural Record, and so far, he has overseen the publication of 17 digital and 16 prints. His colleagues and the society, in general, continue to celebrate his contribution in the Architectural field.
